Pau, a vocalist/producer from Mexico City whose amigos comprise a music/visual arts collective, has been having a remix contest for the original, which is a pretty straightforward disco track about how buzzards are gonna outlive us all because they like to kill and you know, have feathery backs and shit. Radioclit did a Funana mix. Most people dont even know where Cape Verde is and now there music is poppin up. Why? Hm I guess Radioclit listened to some Buraka Som Sistema and checked the neighboring countries for something to redo theirselfes. What they did on their “Fu (Na Na Na) Mix” is actually the same Buraka Som Sistema did to Angolas Kuduro. You take the original music and mix it with fitting, high tech western music till it passes the bouncer. Since Lissabons Kuduro scene is made up of as many Cape Verdians as Angolans (the countrys are connected since they shared a colonial occupant), I guess they´d go bananas over some pimped out Funana too. The only western guys who did that before is Schlachthof Bronx from Munich far as I know. Read more at schakkerhart.com

This is the video of the song a very good friend of mine called GIORGIOLIVE.
The song is entitled “Bossa 0″ and recorded with a musician of Brazil called Paulo Sergio.
Giorgiolive is a dj / producer of Drumm & Bass, and in almost all productions made blends Bossa Nova … sounds very nice!

I’m Argentine and I am no great lover of tango, but only recently (listening to the advice of a friend) started to listen to Astor Piazzolla, who was the person who modernized the Tango.
I leave “Adios Nonino”, Live at the 1984 Montreal International Jazz Festival, a wonderful piece!
According to his son, Daniel Piazzolla, music composing offset (Astor Piazzolla) On the same day that his father died (or the grandfather of Daniel), and we consider the following:
“Dad asked us to leave it alone for a few hours. We got into the kitchen. First there was a dead silence. Soon, we heard that he played the bandoneon. It was a melody very sad, terribly sad. Adiós Nonino was composing.”
Listen string arrangements … the ringtones … every piece is memorable! think that was the first person to incorporate an electric guitar in the Tango.
Enjoy it ! (like me…)

Finally finished my new Mash UP! This time take the four sections of crashroots: Latincontra, Babalao, Whorehousebeats and Orientrising. All converted into a single MASH UP! The mix of the Tracks “Colombiana” by Monopolar and “Snow” by Florian Andres is not very smooth, sorry about that! I like leaving little “mistakes” in the mix as it makes it more true to a club mix experience.

8 year old kids playing microtonal music on their invented instruments? This is what this blog’s all about.Composer/musician Paul “Ubertar” Rubenstein teaches New York kids how to build one-string guitars, and play in African and Indonesian-inspired scales. Then they jam. Not just a novelty, this is some seriously good, unique unclassifiable music, whose contents are only hinted at by their song titles. Great sample source for Babalao tracks! Here is a great track from “Rough Guide to the Music of the Sahara (2005)”. The compilation contains a handful of other southern Moroccan guitar groups like the Sublime Frequency superstars, as well as some great stuff from neighboring Mauritania and the rest of the Sahrawi territory region. These compilations are certainly very rough places to start, but that’s all you can really ask for when they are titled as such. Great sample source for Babalao tracks! (via davequam.blogspot.com)

There is no drummer or percussionist in the world (I’m one of them) who does not believe this man is incredible. The biggest … TITO PUENTE!
Rare, non-commercial 1965 clip of Tito Puente playing “El Cumbanchero” by Rafael Hernandez, one of the most prolific and important Puerto Rican composers of the century. This is from a tribute show to Hernandez that El Banco Popular sponsored in 1965.
